PRODUCT DETAILS

The SSI Cavern & Cenote Diving course will engage you to dive deeper into the cavern zones. With the cavern diving course, you will engage in a new way to dive, like to learn proper cave buoyancy and propulsion skills along with line laying and light usage.

What’s the difference between a Cave and a Cavern in scuba diving?

A Cavern is this zone where you can still see the light from outside, so if at least, you can see the light at the entrance while exploring a flooded cave, you are in the cavern zone. The SSI Cavern Diving course is the first step to become a Cave Diver if you want to explore, one day, the depth of the Earth.

The Cavern Diving class will teach you the knowledge and will give you the experience required to do cavern penetration dives within the light zone of a cave (the maximum depth will depend about your level certification).

The SSI Cavern & Cenote diving specialty is a scuba diving course that specifically focuses on diving in underwater caves, caverns, and sinkholes. One of the most popular destinations for this type of diving is the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, but Utila, a small island in Honduras, is also becoming well-known for its clear blue sinkholes and caves that are perfect for this type of diving.

Course Content

The course covers the unique skills and knowledge required to dive safely in these environments, including proper navigation, communication, lighting, and conservation practices. These skills are essential to prevent harm to both the diver and the delicate ecosystems within the caves and sinkholes.

Prerequisites

The course is designed for experienced divers who have a minimum of an Open Water certification and have logged a minimum of 50 dives. This is because the diving in these environments is more challenging than traditional open water diving and requires a higher level of experience and skill.

Diving in Utila

In Utila, divers will have the opportunity to see a variety of unique species that are not found anywhere else.

Benefits of Certification

Once certified, divers will be able to safely explore and experience the unique and breathtaking beauty of the underwater caves and sinkholes found in Utila and other locations around the world. The SSI Cavern & Cenote diving specialty is a great way for divers to take their skills to the next level and have a truly unforgettable experience in some of the most unique and awe-inspiring environments on earth.
